When you trade in your current car as part of buying a new one from Weelee, the value of your trade-in is deducted from the price of your new car. If you qualify for Trade-In Support, we may also adjust the selling price of your new car and increase your trade-in valuation to help bridge any shortfall. Either way, every number is shown to you upfront before you sign anything.

You bring your current car, we assess it, and its value goes toward your next car — simple. If there’s finance owing, we can help settle that too.

Yes, if your current vehicle is still under finance, you can opt to trade it in. We’ll work out your outstanding settlement amount and factor it into the new purchase deal, so you don’t need to settle your existing finance yourself before trading in.

This is called negative equity. For example, if your car is worth R300 000 but you still owe R400 000, that’s a R100 000 shortfall. If you don’t qualify for Trade-In Support, or choose not to use it, that shortfall stays your responsibility. If you do qualify, we may be able to restructure the deal — adjusting the price of your new car and your trade-in value — to help close that gap.

It depends on a few things: the value of your trade-in, your outstanding settlement, the price of the car you’re moving to, and the finance terms you qualify for.
